7x5" is the step up from 6x4 — big enough to hold a wall or a mantelpiece properly, small enough to still be cheap by the packet. It is the size people reach for when a photo deserves more than an album sleeve.
At MY PICTURE, a 7x5 print is our 13x18 cm format, from £0.13 each, on the same premium photo paper and 12-colour printing as every other size we make.
There is also a quiet advantage to 7x5 that nobody mentions: it crops your phone photos far less than a 6x4 does.
Every size and finish we print sits on the main photo prints page if you want to compare before you order.

As with 6x4, 7x5 and 5x7 are the same print — landscape or portrait. And the European trade size is 13x18 cm, marginally larger than a true 7x5" (12.7 x 17.8 cm). The extra 2–3 mm is why 13x18 sits comfortably in a 7x5 frame rather than fighting it.
A 7x5 print is a little over 1.5 times the area of a 6x4 — a bigger jump than the numbers suggest.
This is the reason to choose 7x5 over 6x4, and almost nobody explains it.
Your phone shoots 4:3. A 6x4 print is 3:2 — a noticeably wider shape — so filling it means cutting about 11% off your photo's long edge. A 13x18 cm print is roughly 1.39, much closer to your phone's native shape, so it only loses about 3.7%.
| Ratio | Cropped from a 4:3 phone photo | |
|---|---|---|
| 10x15 cm (6x4") | 1.50 | 11.1% |
| 13x18 cm (7x5") | 1.385 | 3.7% |
In practice: a group photo or a portrait where heads sit near the edge of the frame survives a 7x5 far better than a 6x4. If you have ever had a print come back with the top of someone's head missing, this is why — and 13x18 is the fix.
Prefer no crop at all? Choose a variable format with a fixed height of 13 cm and we will set the width from your image's own proportions.
A 7x5 needs 1535 x 2126 pixels — about 3.3 megapixels — for a full 300 DPI print. A 12 MP phone gives you nearly four times that, so any normal photo is comfortable.
Where it gets tight: heavily cropped shots, digital-zoom photos and images pulled off social media, which are often re-compressed to well under 2 MP. Our uploader checks every image against the size you have chosen and flags anything that will not hold up.
Same paper, same 12-colour inks, different surface — the choice is aesthetic, not qualitative.
| Attribute | Matte finish | Gloss finish |
|---|---|---|
| Surface | Soft, non-reflective | Smooth, reflective |
| Colour | Softer, more natural | Punchier, deeper contrast |
| Fingerprints | Hides them | Shows them |
| Under glass | No glare | Can catch glare |
| Best for | Framing, portraits, black and white | Albums, travel, colour-rich shots |
| Price | Same as gloss | Same as matte |
At 7x5, most prints end up in frames — which nudges the choice towards matte, since it will not fight the glass with reflections.

Second-cheapest in the UK on 7x5, and cheaper than every high-street name. Find it lower elsewhere and we will beat that price by 5%.
Yes — it is the second most popular print size in the UK after 6x4, and the most common size for framed photos. Frames, mounts and albums are all widely made for it.
Yes. Identical print, different orientation: 7x5 is landscape, 5x7 is portrait. UK retailers tend to write 7x5, US retailers 5x7. Rotate it either way in the configurator.
A true 7x5" is 17.8 x 12.7 cm. It is sold across Europe as 13x18 cm, a couple of millimetres larger, which is why 13x18 prints sit properly in 7x5 frames.

From £0.13 each at MY PICTURE — 20 for about £2.60, 100 for about £13.00. That is cheaper than Boots, ASDA, CEWE, Photobox and PostSnap.
Yes, more than the numbers suggest — a 7x5 is about 1.5 times the area of a 6x4. It is the difference between a print that lives in an album and one that holds a shelf.
7x5, for two reasons. It reads properly from across a room, and it crops your phone photos far less (about 3.7% versus 11%), so faces near the edge of the frame survive.
Yes. A 7x5 needs about 3.3 megapixels at 300 DPI and modern phones shoot 12 MP or more. Only screenshots and heavily compressed social-media downloads are likely to fall short — and we flag those before you pay.
We would say us, and 169,000+ Trusted Shops reviews averaging 4.93/5 back it up. What actually drives quality is the paper and the number of ink colours: we print in 12 colours on premium professional photo paper, where most labs use four or six.
Our minimum is 20 prints, but it applies across your whole order and any mix of sizes. So five 7x5s alongside fifteen 6x4s meets it comfortably.
