At £4.50 the 20 x 20 cm canvas is the cheapest way to get a photo out of your phone and onto something solid. It is a proper stretched canvas on a pine frame, not a flimsy print - just a small one. Most people buy them in threes and fours, either to fill a stair wall or as a stocking filler that costs less than a card.
Bookshelves, a desk, a windowsill, the gap beside a door frame. Because it is light it will also sit happily on a picture ledge without any fixings at all. On a wall, a single one can look lost - group four or six in a block with 5 cm between them and they read as one piece.
Anything you have cropped square for Instagram goes straight on with nothing lost, which is not true of any other size we sell. Feeding it a normal landscape photo means giving up both ends, so pick a shot where the subject sits near the middle.
Around 1181 x 1181 px, about 1.4 megapixels, which is a low bar - even a screenshot from a phone usually clears it. That makes this size a sensible home for older photos, scanned prints and anything pulled off a camera from fifteen years ago that would fall apart at 60 x 60 cm.
Same canvas, same HP Latex inks, same pine, same person stretching it by hand - there is simply less of everything. Which is why a 20 x 20 cm canvas holds detail the way the big ones do rather than looking like a photo stuck to a board.
| Compared with | How it differs |
|---|---|
| 40x40 | Twice the width and height, so four times the area. The size at which a square starts working on a wall alone. |
| 30x20 | Similar footprint but rectangular. Choose 30x20 if your photo is landscape and 20x20 if it is square. |
| 80x80 | The largest square we make, sixteen times the area, and a statement piece rather than a shelf object. |
All four of our square formats are set out on the square canvas print page. Prefer to browse the whole range before you commit? Every format, edge design and frame option is on our canvas prints page.

On its own on a large wall, probably. In a group of four or more, or in a small space like a downstairs loo or a landing, it works well.
Yes, and this is the size to use it on - a square file fits a square canvas exactly. Just download the original from Instagram rather than screenshotting it.
