Baby Acrylic Print Features

A baby acrylic print sets the photograph behind 3mm acrylic glass, which gives it depth and saturation a paper print cannot match. MYPICTURE offers a direct 6-colour print and a Premium 12-colour laminated version, from £13.

Why choose a Baby Acrylic Print?

Two quality tiers, and the difference is real

The standard acrylic is a direct 6-colour print onto a white multilayer backing. The Premium is a 12-colour print laminated onto photo paper behind the acrylic. On a soft, low-contrast newborn photograph the extra colour channels show — this is one of the few upgrades in the range that is visible rather than nominal.

It needs a good file, so check before ordering

Our minimum for acrylic is 120 dpi at print size, well above the 72 dpi we accept on canvas. The acrylic surface shows everything, including the grain in a photograph taken in a dim nursery at three in the morning. Use the best-lit image you have.

Hanging depends on size, and it is not always included

Small and medium sizes use a hanger plate; large sizes use an aluminium backframe. Both are paid options at most sizes, with the backframe included free only at the two largest formats. Budget for it rather than being surprised at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions about Baby Acrylic Prints

What is the difference between the standard and Premium acrylic print?

The standard is a direct 6-colour print onto a white multilayer backing behind 3mm acrylic glass. The Premium is a 12-colour print laminated onto photo paper behind the same acrylic. The Premium holds more tonal range, which is most visible in soft, low-contrast photographs.

What resolution does an acrylic print need?

Our internal minimum is 120 dpi at print size, higher than the 72 dpi minimum for canvas. The acrylic surface is smooth and glossy, so it shows grain and softness that a canvas weave would hide.

Is an acrylic print suitable for a nursery?

It is a rigid 3mm acrylic panel rather than glass, so it will not shatter into shards. It is still a hard-edged wall piece and should be hung securely and out of reach of a cot. For a room where a child will be pulling on things, a canvas with no glazing is the lower-risk choice.

Does the hanging system come included?

It depends on size. Small and medium sizes use a hanger plate and large sizes use an aluminium backframe. Both are optional paid extras at most sizes, with the backframe included at the two largest formats. Check the option at checkout.

Why does an acrylic print look deeper than a paper print?

The image sits behind 3mm of clear acrylic, so light passes through the acrylic before reaching the print and back out again. That creates the depth effect and lifts colour saturation, which is the reason to choose acrylic over a board or a poster.

Will it reflect the light?

Yes. The acrylic front is glossy and will pick up a window or a ceiling light. Hang it out of the direct line of a light source, or choose a matte aluminium print or a canvas if the room is bright and the wall faces a window.

How long does an acrylic print take to arrive?

5 to 8 working days in total — 2 working days production plus 3 to 6 working days delivery.

Perfect for these Occasions: When to choose a Baby Acrylic Print

A single statement piece for the nursery

One acrylic print rather than a group. The depth effect does not read at small sizes or in a cluster, so if acrylic is the choice, go larger and hang it alone.

Gifts that need to look expensive

Acrylic is the material that most obviously reads as a premium object rather than a printed photograph, which matters for a christening or a first-birthday gift given in front of other people.

Photographs with strong colour

Acrylic rewards saturation. A brightly lit photograph with real colour in it gains from the depth effect; a soft, pale newborn shot in muted tones gains less and might be better on canvas.

Kitchens and bathrooms

Acrylic handles humidity better than canvas or paper, so it suits a family photograph in a kitchen or a bathroom where a stretched canvas would be a poor choice.
