To put your special text on a custom mug, you can choose two methods. Either upload an image file of the message, or use our handy Add Text function to add a message to your image file after uploading. This article talks you through the process – it’s easy!

Step 1: Choose Your Image

To start the custom text mug design process, you’ll need to upload a digital image to our website. So first you need to choose an image file.

As you want a mug with personalised text, you have two options:

a) Choose an image file already featuring your message. This could be one that you’ve designed yourself, or just one that you’ve found online (make sure it’s out of copyright if so).
b) Choose an image without text that will make a good background for the message you want. Then you’ll be able to superimpose your message when you reach Step 3.

Step 2: Choose Your Mug

We offer a choice of 4 mug designs – each of them crafted with utmost care for a beautiful result that lasts a lifetime.

Classic Mug. Our most popular item in a classic chunky design. Made from white ceramics, it costs just £4. Yes, £4 for a custom-printed item!
Premium Mug. Made from real porcelain, this puts the accent on exceptional quality. With its elegantly curved handle, this one is for the most special occasions!
Magic Mug. This mug comes with a special chameleon effect. It’s coated with a heat-sensitive black layer that rolls back when a hot drink is poured in – revealing your special message. Made in fantastic quality, this is an ingenious item that will wow your friends!
Enamel Mug. A charming 20th-century design makes this perfect for retro homes as well as picnics and awaydays. Made of enamelled metal, it comes with a silvery stainless-steel rim.

Go to our Photo Mug product page and choose the mug you want. Then click the “Upload Photos” button under your choice and upload your image file.

Step 3: Design Print (Adding Personalised Text if Necessary)

Now you’ll reach our product design page. In the top right-hand corner you’ll see a mock-up of how your print will look.

First choose one of the options under “Format”. This determines where your image will appear on the mug: to the left or right of the handle, or as a wrap-around panorama print.

If the message you want on your mug was included in your image file, you don’t need to add anything here. But if you still need to add your personalised text, follow the instructions below.

And once you’re happy with all your design choices, click “Continue to Shopping Cart” and you’re ready for Step 4!

Adding Your Personalised Text

Click the “Add Text” button underneath the print mock-up to get started. You’ll see a text field that says “Your Text” – you can start writing in there.

We offer a range of text design features. You can make the following changes:

Font. Just click where it says “Arial” to choose from a drop-down list of fonts.
Text type. Your message can appear in bold, italics, or underlined.
Font size and colour.
Position. Just drag your text to move it.
Background colour.

To add a second bit of text, click “New Text” at bottom left. When you’re finished, click “Save”.

Step 4: Complete Your Order

Enter your personal details and your payment method, then check out. We’ll start work on printing your mug with personalised text as soon as payment has cleared.

We’ll get your mug printed in 2-3 working days, and then hand it over to our delivery partners. They’ll need 3-5 extra working days to get it to your doorstep. That’s a total wait of 5-8 working days: not bad for a totally unique item!
