Wedding Canvas Print Features

A wedding canvas print takes one photograph off the photographer's gallery and onto a wall. MYPICTURE prints on 285 g/m² matte-coated canvas, hand-stretched over a 2cm or 4cm frame, in sizes up to 120x80cm, from £4.50. Panoramic formats suit group shots.

Why choose a Wedding Canvas Print?

Matte coating suits a wedding photograph

Wedding photography is usually shot soft, with a lot of white in it — dresses, flowers, tablecloths. A matte coating holds those tones without a highlight bouncing back at you, which is what happens when the same image goes behind gloss acrylic or glass in a bright room.

4cm depth for anything above 80x60cm

The 2cm classic frame is right up to about 80x60cm. Above that, a 4cm XXL frame stops the canvas reading as thin against a large wall and keeps the stretch tight over a bigger span. It is a structural decision, not a decorative one.

Panoramic formats fit the group shot

The full-wedding group photograph is the one image that never fits a standard rectangle. Cropping it to 60x40cm cuts people off the ends. Panoramic canvas formats are made in extended widths for exactly this, and it is the reason most couples order two canvases rather than one.

Frequently Asked Questions about Wedding Canvas Prints

What size wedding canvas should I choose?

Above a standard three-seater sofa, 80x60cm holds the wall properly and 60x40cm reads as modest. For a hallway or above a bed, 60x40cm is usually right. The largest format is 120x80cm. Below 30x20cm a canvas gets lost and belongs in a group rather than alone.

Will my photographer's files be high enough resolution?

Almost certainly. Professional wedding files are supplied well above our internal minimum of 72 dpi at print size for canvas, even at 120x80cm. Ask for the full-resolution JPEGs rather than the web-sized gallery downloads, which are often only 1000 pixels wide.

Can I get a panoramic wedding canvas for the group photo?

Yes. Panoramic canvas is made in extended wide formats, which is the only sensible way to print a full wedding group shot without cropping people off the ends.

What is the canvas made of?

285 g/m² canvas, 100% polyester with a matte coating, hand-stretched over a wooden frame in either 2cm or 4cm depth.

What is a shadow frame and do I need one?

An outer frame that sits slightly away from the canvas so the print appears to float inside it. It is optional, available on 2cm canvases in seven formats, and comes in five colours. The frames are made from 100% recycled ocean plastic.

How long does a wedding canvas take to arrive?

4 to 7 working days in total — 1 working day production plus 3 to 6 working days delivery. Canvases ordered with the 4cm XXL frame or a Premium shadow frame take 5 to 8 working days.

Should I choose canvas or a framed print for a wedding photo?

Canvas gives you far more size for the money and suits relaxed, candid images. A framed print with a white mount treats the photograph more formally and suits a posed portrait. Many couples do both: a large canvas of the group shot, a framed print of the portrait.

Perfect for these Occasions: When to choose a Wedding Canvas Print

The first anniversary

Paper is the traditional first-anniversary gift and canvas is the usual modern reading of it. A print of a photograph from the day, given a year later, lands better than one given the week after when the couple are still sorting the album.

Gifts from the wedding party

Bridesmaids and ushers buying together can afford a large canvas that no individual would. A group photo of the wedding party at 80x60cm is the version they actually want, rather than another framed portrait.

The photos that never got printed

Most couples print the album and nothing else. The candid shots — the speeches, the dancing, the one of somebody's grandmother laughing — stay in the gallery. Those are usually the better canvas.

Parents of the couple

A 40x30cm or 60x40cm canvas of the couple with their parents, given to each set, is the standard thank-you gift and one of the few that gets hung rather than stored.
