What are MixBlox? An Introduction
“So what are MixBlox?”
In a nutshell, MixBlox are miniature blocks of acrylic glass featuring prints of your own photos, brought to you by the custom printing specialists MYPICTURE.
“How miniature are the blocks exactly?”
MixBlox are 5cm x 5cm measured face on. They’re 2.5cm deep.
“And they come printed with any photos I choose?”
Yes! As with most of our products, our customers upload their own photos to our website and we use the image files in our personalised printing process.
That means you get a completely unique item every time.
“So where does my photo appear on the glass block?”
Your photo is attached to the back of the block, facing inwards.
The five other surfaces are left completely clear, so your photo is visible from every viewing angle except from the back.
“MYPICTURE already sell an Acrylic Block. How are MixBlox different?”
The size, basically! MixBlox are a smaller, more playful alternative to our Photo Acrylic Block, but they’re made to the same basic design.
Also the Acrylic Block is suggested as a stand-alone decor item, whereas MixBlox are perfect for displaying in groups.
MixBlox look best when you buy several blocks and mix them together. That’s why we called them...MixBlox!
“What’s so great about acrylic glass anyway?”
We use acrylic glass of exceptional clarity. That means the vivid colours and ultra-crisp resolution of your photo print will shine through – from every angle.
And the generous 2.5cm depth of the glass produces a mesmerising 3D effect that creates shimmering reflections of your photo. Thanks to this “depth effect”, MixBlox photos seem to come to life before your very eyes!
Acrylic glass is also robust and shatter-resistant, while keeping weight to a minimum.
“What’s the best way to arrange my blocks?”
This is where you’ve really got free rein! You can line them up, stack them, or arrange them in loose clusters. The more blocks you have, the more adventurous you can be.
Here are just a few ideas to start you off:

The Pyramid. We’re thinking a triangle really, but there’s nothing to stop you trying the full 3D structure!

The Duo. Two individual blocks placed a couple of inches apart, turned slightly towards each other. Perfect for romantic couple portraits!

The Brick Wall. Rows of MixBlox stacked on top of each other, with the rows shifted so that the sides of each block touch the middle points of the two blocks below.

Twin Columns. Simply two stacks of blocks placed an inch or two apart.
“What kind of photos are best for MixBlox?”
For obvious reasons, small prints aren’t the best choice for big group portraits or sweeping cityscapes.
MixBlox are better suited to individual subjects – headshots of loved ones or pets are perfect. Photos of couples work great as well.
Or you choose more abstract photos with bold splashes of colour. Combine your blocks in creative ways and you can make a fresh new design statement with every rearrangement.
“Are MixBlox difficult to install?”
Not at all! MixBlox are free-standing pieces, so all you need to display them is a few square inches of space on any horizontal surface. Shelves, desks, anywhere you like.
And they’re light enough to move around easily, so they’re perfect for home or office.
